Announcing the 2025 Alaskan 630
The 2025 Alaskan 630 is built for modern short beds, letting you shut the tailgate, keep your truck’s features, and enjoy a fully-loaded Alaskan without compromise.
When Truck Camper Magazine recently sat down with our own Nick Coursolle to announce the all-new 2025 Alaskan 630, the focus wasn’t just on unveiling a new model—it was about solving a real-world challenge that’s been on the minds of short bed truck owners for years. People have consistently asked for a true Alaskan Camper that fits short bed trucks and lets them shut the tailgate without sacrificing the rugged capability we’re known for. The 630 does exactly that. It’s a fully-loaded, hard-sided pop-up designed specifically for modern short beds. And while we shared the news with TCM, we’re diving deeper here into what makes the 630 special—and why we built it in the first place.

Why the 630 Exists: Customer-Driven Design
At the core of the 630’s story is simple customer feedback. Our flagship 8’ model has long been a hit thanks to its ability to fit in long beds and close the tailgate. But for owners of 6.5-foot beds, there hasn’t been an Alaskan that solved this need—until now.
The 630 is our answer. Engineered with the same hand-built quality and durability as our larger models, it’s purpose-built to slide seamlessly into all standard 6.5-foot beds—tailgate and all. It brings full-size Alaskan features into a nimble package designed for modern short beds.

630 Specs
Yep, the “630” stands for its 6.3-foot length
The Alaskan 630 delivers full-sized capability in a compact, short bed footprint. Dry weight comes in between 1,600 to 1,700 pounds depending on options, and fully-loaded builds land around 2,100 pounds. Its center of gravity is set 12 inches from the front wall, giving it excellent balance and handling—ideal for winding trails and backcountry roads.
Inside, the 630 feels like home. It features a 15-gallon fresh water tank, deep stainless steel sink, and a two-burner Dometic cooktop for trail-friendly meals. A 44-inch dinette and a classic east-west 54” x 81” bed provide comfort after long days outside, while a Suburban furnace and four-gallon water heater handle heat and hot showers.
For off-grid performance, the 630 comes with a 12-volt Nova Kool compressor fridge and the option for either a cassette or composting toilet. Oversized Alaskan windows flood the cabin with light, and the available indoor shower system—featuring a recessed stainless steel pan, teak grate, and quick-connect wand—is perfect when the weather turns cold.

Built for Modern Trucks
The 630 isn’t just built to fit—it’s built to work with today’s trucks. Designed specifically for modern rigs like the Ram 2500, Ford F-250, and GM’s heavy-duty short beds, this camper plays nice with the tech-packed tailgates we’ve all come to rely on. Think backup cameras, built-in steps, workbenches, locking storage—they’re all staying right where they belong.
Need to hop on the tailgate to grab a kayak off the roof rack? Easy. Want that factory step to make climbing in and out of camp smoother? It’s there. Like having your backup camera when threading through tight forest roads? No worries. With the 630, you don’t lose a single tailgate feature—you just gain a fully loaded Alaskan on the back of your truck.
Why Tailgate “Culture” Matters More Than Ever
Today’s tailgates aren’t just tailgates—they’re multi-tools for modern trucks. Think of them as the Swiss Army knives of your rig, packed with tech and functionality. Closing your tailgate with the camper onboard means you’re keeping all the features that make your truck so capable. With the 630, you’ll still have:
• Your backup camera fully functional
• Built-in tailgate speakers for campsite playlists
• A step or ladder system to access the roof rack easily
• The ability to lock up the camper and bed for added security
• A cleaner, more finished look at camp and on the road
• Protection from dust, dirt, and trail debris sneaking into your rear camper area

Full Features—Fewer Trade-Offs
The 2025 Alaskan 630 was built to do something few short bed campers can—fit neatly inside a short bed truck and still let you shut the tailgate. Naturally, some compromises come with scaling down. But like every Alaskan, the 630 delivers full-featured capability without cutting corners where it counts.
You’ll still get the same trusted components and customization options as our larger models, but the smaller footprint means you’ll need to be more intentional with space. The 630 is built to carry two batteries—plenty of off-grid power, though fewer than the four or six found in our long-bed builds. It’s designed with solo travelers or couples in mind, with no second sleeping area in the dinette.
Storage is maximized throughout the camper, and if you opt out of a cassette or composting toilet, you’ll gain even more room for gear or essentials.
Bottom line? The 630 strikes a smart balance between capability and efficiency. You still get everything you’d expect from a full-size Alaskan—oversized windows, a full kitchen, a Suburban furnace and hot water heater—all precision-fit for today’s short bed trucks, tailgate up, and ready for wherever the road leads.

Bringing It Home
The 2025 Alaskan 630 isn’t just a new model—it’s the product of listening to the people who haul our campers into wild places and expect them to perform. Whether you’re heading deep into the backcountry or setting up camp at a quiet forest pull-off, the 630 lets you keep all the modern truck tech you rely on, while delivering the rugged comfort Alaskan is known for. Tailgate shut, adventure ahead.
